Winch System Controls

Controls

Wintech Controls are the heart of the Wintech Barge Moving System. Controls can be custom configured for each application, and all controls and drives are mounted in NEMA 4 enclosures. Typical winch controls include individual winch controls for breasting operations, as well as an automatic move control for traversing the barge. A typical system also incorporates a "zero-to-maximum" speed control dial.

Wintech Winches

Winches are available in capacities from 10,000 through 25,000 Ibs. All winches are constructed of extra heavy duty materials and components. Each winch is also manufactured with tapered roller drum bearings and utilizes a parallel helical gear reducer, chain drive, and a spring applied, electrically released holding brake.

Dual Winch Systems

The Wintech Pro-Move System is the ultimate in barge moving controllability. Using the latest Vector Drive technology, Pro-Move utilizes infinitely variable speed control in both the breasting and moving modes. This results in smooth acceleration and deceleration. The key feature of the Pro-Move system is the variable holdback tension on the tailing winch. Barge movement powers the pulling winch while providing holdback tension on the tailing winch. This ensures that the lines remain under controlled tension throughout the moving process.

The Wintech Vari-Move System offers the same Vector Drive technology that powers Wintech's Pro-Move System. Vari-Move provides smooth acceleration control through variable speed on each winch, in both the breasting and moving modes. Barge movement powers the pulling winch while automatically freewheeling the tailing winch. The automatic holdback feature is not available on the Vari-Move System, but optional disc type braking systems provide holdback tension when in the tailing position.

The Wintech Econo-Move System is our most economical barge moving system. It utilizes two Wintech Upright or Low-Pro barge winches that provide single speed operation and high holding capacity. Econo-Move is designed for breasting and moving barges in lower moving cycle applications. Operator controls for each Wintech winch, for both pull-in and pay-out, are provided through individual pushbutton controls. These controls can be installed at each winch or at a central control panel.

Single Winch System

The Wintech Uni-Move System is a single winch system in which cables exit the winch in both directions. This type of system is commonly referred to as a continuous loop or one rope on/one rope off system. Uni-Move is available with both single speed and variable speed drives. The winch drum is grooved and is designed to accommodate the total shuttle travel of the barge. Total travel distance in a continuous loop system is limited to the length of cable contained in a single layer.
